R.I.P. Sensational **** Film: " Crooked (by WordSound Skiz Fernando) " Istari Lasterfahrer, Benni Bo & DJ Pult plays Sensational & other experimental underground sounds

Admission by donation! Proceeds will go to the Wordsound Family in NYC.

MC Sensational was originally scheduled to perform live at our MASH UP DI BASS event. Sadly, Colin passed away on August 11. Skiz Fernando has expressly given us permission to screen "Crooked" publicly tonight in memory of Sensational.

Don’t tell me you don’t know who Sensational is! All hip-hop conventions are thrown out the window. Forget everything you thought you knew about rap. Welcome to the old-school, lo-fi world of Brooklyn, New York’s Sensational. GET ON MY PAGE is his fourth full-length album, following last year’s critically acclaimed HEAVYWEIGHTER (on Wordsound).

Sure, there are crazy personalities like Kool Keith and Old Dirty Bastard, but Sensational is in a league of his own, even compared to these out-there MCs. Born (or hatched?) into the world of beats as Torture—a name perfectly suited to his gritty productions and off-the-beaten-path style—Torture teamed up with the Jungle Brothers when he was just 15.

Armed with an 8-track, a drum machine, and a microphone (though he used to use headphones instead of a mic), Sensational’s “poetry-in-motion” madness is sure to wake up the Puffy-loving masses. Sensational currently lives on whatever couch he can crash on, and creates blazing hip-hop every single day of his life. Until we see him on the Billboard charts, hip-hop is doomed to mediocrity.
