Rosalie Wanka, Maayan Liebman-Sharon, Aron Nowak: RADICAL EMBRACE
In the organizer's words:
"Radical Embrace" views the physical act of hugging as a confrontation: Do we accept a situation, or do we reject it? Do we open ourselves up to this situation, or do we resist it? The English verb “embrace” means not only to hold someone in one’s arms, but also to accept something fully, almost to become one with it. Radical Embrace aims to take a stand against polarization, the currents of intolerance, and categorization, and to make room for the diversity of truths, opinions, and voices. This embrace is an act of listening, of accepting oneself and others.
In this contemporary dance performance, created by Rosalie Wanka and Aron Nowak in collaboration with choreographer Maayan Liebman-Sharon, the act of embracing is transformed into a political statement expressed through movement. This intercultural collaboration also goes some way toward bridging the widening divide in global society.
