BEST OF ART is a video series conceived by Anas Kahal that focuses on a single work of art. Based on the selected work, Kahal develops a short, experimental portrait that provides an artistic approach to the work and the artists involved.

The series presents artists from Freiburg.

The video series currently comprises three episodes:
BEST OF JÜRGEN GRIEGER-LEMPELIUS
BEST OF ANNETTE MERKENTHALER
BEST OF MATTHIAS DÄMPFLE

This will be followed by a talk with Anas Kahal and the artists Jürgen Grieger-Lempelius, Annette Merkenthaler and Matthias Dämpfle.

The event is part of Regionale 26.

Anas Kahal (*1985 in Damascus, Syria) is an artist and lives in Freiburg. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Damascus and continued his studies at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. In 2025 he was awarded the Kalinowski Prize, in 2026 he will receive the residency scholarship of the German Academy at Casa Baldi, Italy.
