A film that pushes boundaries in every respect: simultaneously retro and sci-fi, documentary and mystifying, with protagonists who are not only genderfluid, but also dream of or perform an existence between human and fish. What begins as a kind of road movie with the extraterrestrial siren Una, who travels through the reality of a desiccating planet, becomes a documentary about the merfolk community in the northwest of the USA, for whom political resistance has become almost vital in times of right-wing populism.
