something new, something old, something desired

In the organizer's words:

In a major show, the Hamburger Kunsthalle presents its most recent acquisitions and donations from its important collection of contemporary art (something new) in dialogue with important works that have enriched the collection for some time (something old) and highlights them with special loans that are on the museum's wish list for permanent acquisition (something desired). The exciting assemblage of works by more than 50 artists-most of them internationally renowned-is an impressive demonstration of the enormously polyphonic nature of contemporary art. The works deal with current and virulent themes of our time: understanding and communication, isolation and demarcation, the exercise of power and protest, as well as utopia and structure. Presented are photographic series, multimedia (spatial) installations, video projections, architectural models and architectures made of fabric, which take a look at (virtual) worlds and realities, address the tension between form and dissolution, and show potentials of networking in fabric and language.
