Sonderausstellung - Wilhelm Lehmbruck. Ewig menschlich

In the organizer's words:

For the first time, the intensive life and creative period of the last years of Wilhelm Lehmbruck, one of the most important sculptors of his generation, is the focus of an exhibition. Influenced by the effects of the First World War, he explored the existential questions of being human in his sculptures, paintings and graphic works. Lehmbruck's works bear witness to despair, but also to compassion and are particularly moving today, in times that are also characterized by war, destruction and flight.

The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Kunsthaus Zürich. In a sculptural intervention specially conceived for the exhibition, the artist Gintarė Sokelytė enters into a dialog with Lehmbruck's art.
