• Participation in the 5 km and 10 km RUN is open to individuals ages 12 and older. The half marathon is open to participants ages 16 and older. However, it is recommended that children and teenagers run shorter distances.

When the sun goes down and the lights come on, a very special running experience begins in Cologne: TheSportScheck RUN 2026returns to the Rheinboulevard on the evening ofSeptember 11—with a unique atmosphere, a view of the cathedral, and plenty of running enthusiasm.

The race consists of a 5-km loop, which participants complete once or twice depending on the distance they choose. The route runs between the Hohenzollern Bridge and the Deutz Bridge, past the historic City Hall—featuring panoramic views of the cathedral and the nighttime atmosphere along the Rhine.

For children ages 7 to 12, theKids RUNis on the program. Together, they’ll run a 1-km loop—ideal for young runners who want to get their first taste of the RUN experience.

The 5-km and 10-km distances are open to participants ages 12 and up. Whether you’re a casual runner or an ambitious sports enthusiast—at the RUN in Cologne, what counts is the shared experience in one of the country’s most beautiful running settings.
