In the organizer's words:

"Störfall" theatrical mind game with commentary function

based on Christa Wolf, awarded the 2nd KunstSalon Theater Prize 2022

The multimedia production deals with two incidents in one day: a reactor accident and brain surgery. An inner monologue unfolds. It leads into a joyful search for our responsibility as human beings and spans the arc from the Chernobyl disaster to today's crises. The audience is challenged to question itself. Using their own smartphones, the audience can send their thoughts live on stage and thus become part of the production.

Christa Wolf's story was written during the Cold War. It is more than topical, as nuclear power was recently classified as "sustainable" by the EU. The war in Ukraine heightens the question of the necessity of the so-called "peaceful use of nuclear power". A possible meltdown is getting worryingly close.

"Have our own desires brought us to this point? Has our oversized, idle brain taken refuge in manic-destructive hyperactivity? Seeing the threat not in the external enemy, but within ourselves. Is this the most utopian of all utopias?"
(from "Störfall" by Christa Wolf)

Press reviews:
"...a gripping and contemporary production...a multi-faceted Gesamtkunstwerk that brings the plot to the stage on several narrative levels. ... incredibly compact and pointed."
(kritik-gestalten | Norbert Raffelsiefen)

"No one needs to say a word about the parallels to modern times. They are so obvious after the performance...This is not good theater, this is grandiose theater."
(O-Ton Magazin | Michael S. Zerban)

"A great, thought-provoking text from the tape, a convincing illustration by a dancer as well as a video and sound collage - and live comments from the audience. A great evening..."
(Theater Pur | Dietmar Zimmermann)

"The critical situation for a loved one and the question of the effects of the reactor accident combine to create an uncontrollable sensory disaster that floods the dams of the mind."
(Choices | Thomas Dahl)
