Germany's first street food market – every Thursday at Markthalle Neun since 2013
The best way to get to know a place is through its food. When we’re out and about, it’s often the food served on the side of the road that sticks in our minds: simple, accessible, delicious—well, street food.
Since 2013, Street Food Thursday has proven that Berlin has more to offer than just currywurst and kebabs. Every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Markthalle Neun becomes a platform for chefs who don’t have their own restaurants but do have ideas, attitude, and skills.
Launched by Kavita Meelu, Anna Lai, and Tobias Bürger (Big Stuff Smoked BBQ), Street Food Thursday was the first market of its kind in Germany—and has since left its mark on an entire city.
