Tag der offenen Tür – Villa Hammerschmidt & Bundesentwicklungsministerium

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier invites the public to a festival in the park of Villa Hammerschmidt. On this open house day, the park will be transformed into a vibrant stage celebrating volunteerism. The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which has its Bonn headquarters right next door in the former Federal Chancellery, will also open its doors to anyone interested.

A top-notch program awaits you on several stages: music, dance, sports, readings, and panel discussions. Prominent figures will engage in discussions with the Federal President and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, among others. There’s also plenty for children to experience. Over 30 organizations, initiatives, and companies will showcase their social engagement and look forward to connecting with you. If you’d like to share your thoughts on civic engagement and volunteer work, visit the Citizens’ Festival Studio, where well-known content creators will invite you to join the conversation. 

This year’s partner country for the Citizens’ Festival is Japan, and the partner city is Bonn—both will contribute to the festivities with culinary and cultural highlights. And last but not least, you can tour the official rooms of Villa Hammerschmidt or take a guided tour organized by the House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany Foundation through the Chancellor’s Bungalow and the former Chancellery.

At the BMZ Open House, there will be numerous informational booths and a diverse program on stage in the Chancellor’s Garden. Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Alabali Radovan will speak on current development policy issues and answer questions from guests. In addition to musical performances, culinary offerings, and a children’s program, more than 20 development policy organizations will present their work. There will also be an opportunity to take part in guided tours organized by the House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany through historically significant rooms such as the former cabinet chambers, the Chancellor’s office, and the Chancellor’s Bungalow.
