TANGO CROSSOVER: DUO CONBRIO - Saxophon trifft auf Akkordeon

Duo ConBrio is an award-winning, passionate, and highly virtuosic duo that deliberately pushes the boundaries of traditional chamber music. With their unusual and fascinating combination of saxophone and accordion, Margarita Cherenkova and Taras Makhno create an intense, cinematic sound experience—full of fire, emotion, contrasts, and deep intimacy.

The duo views a concert evening as both an emotional event and a musical experience: here, classical virtuosity meets the passion of tango, the drama of film music, and the energy of modern crossover programs. “Strictly more important than tradition” is the duo’s artistic credo. Their concerts are described by audiences as captivating, poetic, and unforgettable—like a “musical film” that strikes straight to the heart.

Duo ConBrio has been honored with the following awards, among others:• 1st Prize – World Open Music Competition• Absolute Winners – ITALIA AWARD• 2nd Prize – Concours International Léopold Bellan (Paris, chamber music)• “Outstanding” – Austrian National Accordion Championship• Absolute Winners – Classical Stars Competition

The artists have already performed in renowned concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Rudolf-Oetker-Halle, and regularly appear at festivals (including the Burghofspiele Rheingau Sommer and Kultursommer Nordhessen).

The German and French press have written about the duo with great enthusiasm. A French newspaper called Duo ConBrio “an outstanding and dedicated duo—a symbol of hope and peace.” Other concert reviews speak of “fire, storm, and profound silence.”

Their repertoire includes works by Astor Piazzolla, Richard Galliano, George Gershwin, Dmitri Shostakovich, Khachaturian, Jacob Gade, Michael Jackson, and many of their own arrangements as well as world premieres. With more than 50 concerts a year and a clear vision, Duo ConBrio is emerging as one of the most exciting young crossover ensembles on the European scene.
