Middle Ground: Nepal Literature Festivaloffers the opportunity to deepen your own writing practice intwo parallel workshopsand to exchange ideas with other authors on topics related to writing. In each two-hour session, the respective workshop leaders focus on a specific, self-selected topic. Participants are invited to take part in group discussions and can also explore their own writing.
Farah Bashir’s workshop examines the body as geography and as an archive. According to Bashir, before it becomes a metaphor, the body is a physical geography. Places leave their marks on it—whether through climate, movement, injuries, hunger, or touch. The body remembers landscapes and experiences that active consciousness can hardly put into words. What does the body know that the mind does not? Bashir’s novel *Rumors of Spring* serves as the starting point for discussing how places and spaces can be experienced physically. Participants can explore how experiences of space become anchored in the body and experiment with translating physical sensations and memories into prose.
The workshop is open to participants of all ages and experience levels.
Registration:Please send a writing sample of no more than 500 words in English or German tomiddleground@hkw.deby September 15, 2026, and include the title of the workshop in the subject line. Selected participants will be notified by the end of September.
