Feature film - ISL, F, DK, S 2025 - 109' - OmU
Director: Hlynur Pálmason
A corrugated iron roof is removed, lifted by a crane and floats seemingly weightlessly above the walls of the house. THE LOVE THAT REMAINS begins with this allegorical image. The fourth film by Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason tells the story in a loose, impressionistic form of a couple who have separated but cannot get away from each other. Because of their children, but also because of the narrowness of their homeland, whose landscapes almost become a character of their own. Pálmason's film is existentialist and poetic in equal measure, but above all it transcends the boundaries of conventional narrative forms.
All about the power of images in film, pop culture, art and society. At FILM FESTIVAL COLOGNE from October 9-16, 2025 and always online.
