Documentary - NL 2024 - 108' - OmeU
Director: Luuk Bouwman
He was something like the Dutch equivalent of Leni Riefenstahl: in the early 1940s, Dutch film director Jan Teunissen became a loyal film functionary and enthusiastic producer of propaganda films for the Nazi occupiers. The main source for this gripping and excellently researched documentary about him are shockingly honest interviews that the historian Rolf Schuursma conducted with Teunissen in the 1960s. What becomes clear: The "propagandist" was less an ideologue than an opportunistic careerist.
All about the power of images in film, pop culture, art and society. At FILM FESTIVAL COLOGNE from October 9-16, 2025 and always online.
