Theodor

Theodor is named after a 24-year-old cat who was there during the making of the band’s first album.

The recording sessions began in the midst of the pandemic and captured that peaceful solitude. The result was their self-titled LP. The idea to start a recording project came about during a road trip to Italy. Rob (Okta Logue) and Lui (LUI HILL) listened to tapes of contemporary soul, which became the inspiration for the project: the vision of creating an atmospheric and laid-back soundscape. The band was eventually rounded out by Max (Fooks Nihil) and Greg (Triorität), and THEODOR was released in 2023 by the French label Broc Recordz.

Today

Following their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album, the band is back with a new LP. HOLOCENE is characterized by a contemporary sound, while the four members express their admiration for 1960s jazz and 1970s soul and funk. The unique male falsetto vocals and the soulful timbre of the two singers tell stories of self-reflection, thoughts of departed friends, contemplation of the cosmos, and a lingering sense of something greater. Soulful acoustic drums meet cheerful, melodic basslines, embraced by warm and dreamy synthesizers.

With their new album HOLOCENE, the band has solidified and further refined their gentle, psychedelic style. Static drum machines, fluid instrumental cascades, and classic song structures with pop appeal give the album a wide sonic range and depth. Each of the ten tracks on this album evokes a truly cinematic atmosphere that sparks the imagination.
