In the organizer's words:
Herbals were popular during the transition from the Middle Ages to the modern era. Through their descriptions and illustrations of medicinal plants, they combined botany and medicine. Their illustrations reveal the changes that took place in the approach to knowledge during that time. Clara Kiehnlein approaches this historical form through a delicate, artistic book format, finding her own way to connect the various disciplines and comment on modern medicine. Atmospheric, gentle, and vividly colorful, she invites readers into her garden of medicinal herbs.
