Things are going great for the chairperson: He managed to slip away from the morning drinks at 7 p.m., was reelected with 104 percent of the vote at the annual general meeting, and that long-overdue promotion is finally waiting for him at work! If only he knew where he’d put that darn diploma he still needs for his job application! It’s got to be in that box down in the basement bar—that’s where he keeps everything: report cards, unpaid bills, certificates, medals, photos, love letters, traffic tickets, the first Kölsch glass he got for his First Communion—basically, his whole life. So the president sits down in his basement bar, opens a beer, and starts searching. And as he rummages through the box, all those stories and experiences suddenly come flooding back to him—many of which he might have forgotten without the box: First day of school, first Kölsch, first kiss (all in one day!), wedding, kids, the trips with the club, and of course Hermann, his friend who lives life at the bare minimum of intelligence.
In his second solo show, Volker Weininger once again delivers Kölsch and jokes one after another. As the session president, he takes us on an autobiographical journey through his eventful life. Many people assume a guy like him must have always been president. But that’s not true at all: Until he was five years old, he was just the vice president! And that’s just one of many surprising revelations the session president coaxes out of himself in true Kölsch style. And there are more and more of them with every beer! There are some things he can’t quite remember—a blackout, you know. But luckily, there’s the archive and a few eyewitnesses who can help fill in the gaps. But where is that darn report card now? It can’t be gone!
