We are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the book "Guerrillas para la Vida" (Guerrillas for Life) by Beatriz Yarza. Beatriz, an internationalist from the Basque Country, turned her vocation of medicine into a fight for life in the heart of the Salvadoran guerrillas. With her ingenuity, she managed to improvise essential medical solutions with minimal resources that saved lives in extreme conditions. It will be a special afternoon full of literature, memories and Latin American culture in Berlin.
The event will be in Spanish with translation. Free admission, a donation for the ex-guerrillas is requested. There will also be a small supporting program.
background:
The civil war in El Salvador took place from 1980 to 1992 and was an armed conflict between the left-wing guerrilla movement FMLN and the military regime, which was strongly supported by the USA. Over 75,000 people died and thousands were injured or disappeared. The war ended with the Chapultepec peace agreement in 1992, but the consequences such as social inequality and violence still characterize the country today.
