Wachhaus #16: Jan Ribbers

Jan Ribbers extends the existing downpipe of the guardhouse and guides it once around the house before the pipe reaches the ground again at its original position. With this installation, Ribbers intervenes in an existing order without dissolving it. The purpose of the downpipe remains the same, but its course changes. "Verlaufen" describes both the movement of the water and a possible disorientation and addresses the ambivalence of detours.

The Wachhaus exhibition series is a cooperation with the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, in which students realize a new installation on site every two months. After a cycle of six presentations, one contribution is awarded a prize in the following year.
