For many German-Jewish families in the 19th and early 20th century, an intercultural family celebration at the end of the year was a matter of course. This was also the case for the Liebermann family: in 1908, Max Liebermann wrote to his friend Alfred Lichtwark "[...] I celebrate all festivals, Christian, Jewish, Mohammedan [...]".
We would like to invite you to celebrate "Weihnukka" with us at Wannsee. The author and Judaist Sara Klatt will trace the historical and contemporary cultural practice of this festival in a lecture. Afterwards, we look forward to a convivial get-together with you over marzipan cake!
This evening marks the conclusion of the two-year educational project "Max Liebermann and Jewish Life in Berlin". Funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life in Germany and the Fight against Anti-Semitism.
