Punk. A (youth) subculture that is known for its ideals of freedom, its defiance and its deliberate disgust. The stories of those who write them are as diverse as the scene itself. Behind the rivets and colorful hair, especially in the East German hinterland, there are countless experiences and traumas of Nazi violence, assaults, persecution, daily confrontation with what people in the big city and in the West either don't know (anymore) or accept half-heartedly. But there is also self-assertion, self-protection and self-realization.
In 6 interviews, the DIY fanzine "Wir Punks Vom Hinterland" examines the past, present and future of East German (and queer) punks between the ages of 18 and 40. Editor Brösel and two interviewees will read excerpts and talk to the audience.
