Change of plans: Unfortunately, tomorrow's lecture on "Perspectives on sustainability research in coral reefs" has been postponed. Instead, Dr. Simon Jungblut will take us into the fascinating world of octopuses. Same place, same time! 🐙
Knowledge at 11: Curious observers - perspectives on sustainability research in coral reefs
Lecture by Dr. Lena Rölfer
Lena Rölfer's lecture puts a fascinating underwater photograph of a coral reef, which is part of the current photo exhibition "Young marine researchers at work" in the Haus der Wissenschaft, into a larger context. A whitetip reef shark observes Lena as she collects data for her master's thesis. But the shark is not the only observer: the viewers of the picture also perceive the scene from their own perspective - just like Lena, who observes and researches the ecosystem as a scientist. In her lecture, Lena sheds light on various changes of perspective and thus places the photo in a larger social science context within sustainability science and climate change adaptation.
"Wissen um 11", the science matinee in Bremen, in which exciting and current topics from science are presented every Saturday at 11 a.m. in thirty minutes and, if possible, filmed and published on our YouTube channel. Free admission.
