Wolfgang Benz, one of the most renowned contemporary historians, presents his book on the history of exile, published in 2025. Hundreds of thousands of people were expelled from Germany and - from 1938 onwards - from Austria during the years of National Socialist tyranny. And exile was always and for everyone an existential state of emergency. This comprehensive overview looks at many perspectives, motives, destinations, group fates such as that of the Kindertransports and, in particular, the reality of the lives of the many unknown exiles, the clichés about exile and the return of the few in the post-war period. In cooperation with Gegen Vergessen - Für Demokratie, RAG München and the Munich City Library.
Access to the town hall in the evening is only possible via the gate at the level of the fish fountain. From there, the way to the Law Library is signposted.
