What is audio description?

Audio description is a pre-recorded, live narration of what is happening on stage. In theater and dance performances, for example, audio description is transmitted to audience members via headphones. This improves accessibility for people who are visually impaired or blind, among others.

What is the workshop about?

In this two-day workshop, you’ll learn the basics of audio description in theory and practice. On Friday, the focus will be on raising general awareness of the topics of inclusion, blindness, and visual impairment; on Saturday, the emphasis will be on the criteria and practical aspects of good audio description. The goal is for you to leave with the tools you need to prepare and deliver an audio description with the support of a blind person. We are pleased to haveMatthias Nagelleading the workshop; he works nationwide as an expert and consultant on inclusion in the arts and culture sector.
