A TOUCH OF JAPAN
Experience a moment of Japanese tea culture at HETJENS!
The Japanese tea ceremony and its deep cultural significance are known worldwide - a special way of drinking tea that has become a spiritual practice. In Japan, everything is an art: not only drinking tea, but also preparing it. In our workshop, the artist SATOMI EDO shows how to prepare matcha properly. Under her guidance, participants will prepare matcha themselves in a traditional ceramic bowl, known as a chawan. A bowl of Japanese tea comes with a special dessert: WAGASHI. Its ingredients, production and artistic appearance clearly distinguish it from Western confectionery. Under the guidance of Ms. Edo, the participants create a sweet work of art that is not only a culinary delight, but also a feast for the eyes. At the end, the group enjoys the homemade tea and dessert in a small group and has the opportunity to exchange ideas and learn more about Japanese culture and life in Japan.
