XR-History Festival

In the organizer's words:

History is not only told in books. Our past catches up with us in blockbuster games such as Wolfenstein, Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty. We encounter it in memes and posts on social media, it is often the subject of media art in museums, in extended reality projects and part of our everyday pop cultural world.

Immersive media change and expand our ideas and interpretations of space and time and thus also the axes with which we construct and interpret history.

With the XR-History Festival, we celebrate the diversity of memory culture and show how we can discuss and establish a better present and future through digital engagement with history. You can expect:

- A diverse stage program with exciting guests and presenter Nhi Le

- Presentation of the winner of the XR-History Award 2024: Jongsma + O'Neill

- 10 XR Playgrounds where you can explore history and memory cultures in digital media and digital arts

- Free admission to the Deichtorhallen on Museum Thursday

- Guided tours through the Deichtorhallen exhibition "Survival in the 21st Century"

- A musical program, presented in collaboration with PAL TV: Live set by Zoe Mc Pherson
