Young Talents: Julius Jahn Trio

In the organizer's words:

The JULIUS JAHN TRIO is a group of young students from the renowned Berlin Jazz Institute (JIB). They met there during their studies and discovered their love of creating sound images and stories together. A basic principle of their musical vision is experimentation on stage, which, thanks to the daring of the three musicians, breaks through the familiar boundaries of music and produces something thoroughly new. Acting in a traditional trio line-up, Johann Greve (double bass), Steven Moser (drums) and Julius Jahn (tenor sax) do not just imitate. Influences such as those of Warne Marsh/Lee Konitz and Dexter Gordon are noticeable, but the trio is geared towards the future and takes familiar sounds and turns them into their own.
