YOUNGBLOOD BRASS BAND

Youngblood Brass Bandcombines the energy of a New Orleans brass band with hip-hop, punk, and funk to create a unique, rousing sound. The ten-piece band, founded in 1998 in Madison, Wisconsin, now consists of musicians from various U.S. cities and has been thrilling audiences worldwide for over two decades with its explosive mix of genres.

The band has collaborated with artists such asTalib Kweli,Mike Ladd, andIke Willis. Their music is performed by marching bands and jazz ensembles and has even found its way into school curricula—all without losing sight of its roots in the independent music scene.

With performances at festivals such asGlastonbury,Roskilde,North Sea Jazz,WOMAD, andSXSW, as well as sold-out tours in over 20 countries, Youngblood Brass Band ranks among the world’s leading live brass bands. Albums such as*Word On The Street*,*Unlearn*,*center:level*, and*Pax Volumi* have shaped their distinctive style, which the band itself describes as “Riot Jazz.”

In addition to their concerts, Youngblood Brass Band has been actively involved in music education for years, offering workshops on New Orleans music, jazz, hip-hop, and creative improvisation.
