Interspaces | Encounters from the Far East & Europe
October 31 - November 15, 2025
The Far East and Europe meet in the current exhibition. The Japanese artist Shige Fujihiro has been switching between his home cities of Hanover and Hiroshima for many years. CATbosshammer, from Cologne by choice, lived and worked in Asia for over 10 years. In their first joint exhibition, they will fill the spaces in between at bunker_k101.
Shige Fujishiro is known for his filigree and spectacular works made of TOHO glass beads and safety pins. The incredible aesthetics of his works initially overshadow their profound socio-critical statements, which are then able to hit home all the more precisely.
CATbosshammer combines Far Eastern techniques and materials with Western abstraction. She plays with the symbolism of different cultures and merges them into something of her own. Joie de vivre and energy shine through in her vibrant, colorful works as well as in her more quiet and delicate ones.
