Our vision is called “FUEGO A LA ISLA.” We transport visitors to a cultural parallel world on our city’s island, far from the gray everyday life of Chemnitz. In a DIY spirit, we create creative spaces that are non-commercial and ad-free: from a slackline course to DJ areas, from a Kids Space to free workshops. Various stages will be taken over, sung on, and brought to life by international bands and performance artists, songwriters, and poetry slammers. The unique decor transports the island away from reality, and clever light shows reflect the fire in our hearts for this festival.

Against Hate

We are committed to fostering an inclusive community free from discrimination, so that everyone can freely express themselves and get involved. Right-wing or discriminatory symbols, as well as corresponding statements, have no place at the festival and will result in expulsion. Our goal is for all guests to enjoy the festival in a relaxed and safe environment. If you notice anything that crosses the line or is violent—whether directed at you or others—please contact our Awareness Team or Security. We’re here for you.

No Commercial Focus

“FUEGO A LA ISLA” is not a commercial event. We’re not focused on profit, but on connection: between people, ideas, and commitment. Of course, a financial framework is needed to make a festival like this a reality, but making money is not our goal. We want to ensure that everyone can participate, regardless of their financial means. Any surplus from the festival goes directly toward future projects. Through our “Job Center,” anyone who volunteers and helps shape the festival receives free admission. This is how we create a space where everyone can contribute—whether with their time, their energy, or their art. We offer artists a platform to showcase their work and actively invite our audience to become part of the festival—not just as spectators, but as co-creators. Our focus is on genuine participation, community engagement, and the diversity that emerges when people come together.
