Zum allerersten Gospel-Konzert in Betty's Black Pearl wird nicht nur gebetet, sondern auch gelacht – und zwar herzlich. Denn wenn Precious Etteh und Christian Bakotessa gemeinsam die Bühne betreten, trifft göttliche Inspiration auf Lebensgeschichten, die mehr Groove haben als der Kirchenchor am Sonntagmorgen.

Precious Etteh bringt Gospelpower direkt aus dem Herzen: Geboren in Calabar, aufgewachsen im Bundesstaat Cross River, heute Stimme der Hoffnung in einer Kirche in Bremen-Neustadt. Schon mit 16 begann sie zu singen – natürlich Gospel, denn wenn Gott anruft, nimmt man ab. 2021 setzte sie dem Ganzen die Krone auf und gewann die Top 20 Gospel Music Awards mit einem Vorsprung von satten 8.000 Stimmen. Kurz gesagt: Diese Frau singt so überzeugend, dass sogar die Engel mitvoten.

Christian Bakotessa liefert die andere Hälfte des Wunders: Aufgewachsen bei seinem Onkel in Brazzaville, fand er mit 17 im Kirchenchor seine musikalische Heimat – bis Musik im Kongo verboten wurde und er Ende 2001 nach Deutschland floh. In Bremen angekommen (Buchbinder by day, Bühnenmagnet by night), wurde er Gitarrist und Sänger der Band Black-X. Spätestens seit seinem legendären Auftritt bei Das Supertalent – inklusive Goldmoment von Dieter Bohlen – weiß ganz Deutschland: Wenn Christian singt, glaubt man wieder an Wunder. Platz zwei hinter Jean-Michel Aweh? Geschenkt. Standing Ovations sind unbezahlbar. Sein Song-Moment mit I Believe I Can Fly ist bis heute Gänsehautpflicht.

Fazit: Dieses Konzert ist wie ein Sonntagsgottesdienst mit Afterparty. Es wird gelacht, geklatscht, vielleicht ein Tränchen verdrückt – und ganz sicher gesungen. Gospel im Pearl? Amen dazu!

Because when Precious Etteh and Christian Bakotessa take to the stage together, divine inspiration meets life stories that have more groove than the church choir on Sunday morning.
Precious Etteh brings gospel power straight from the heart: born in Calabar, raised in Cross River State, today the voice of hope in a church in Bremen-Neustadt. She started singing at the age of 16 – gospel, of course, because when God calls, you answer. In 2021, she topped it all off by winning the Top 20 Gospel Music Awards with a whopping 8,000-vote lead. Christian Bakotessa provides the other half of the miracle: raised by his uncle in Brazzaville, he found his musical home in the church choir at the age of 17 – until music was banned in Congo and he fled to Germany at the end of 2001. Arriving in Bremen (bookbinder by day, stage magnet by night), he became the guitarist and singer of the band Black-X. Ever since his legendary appearance on Das Supertalent – including Dieter Bohlen's golden moment – the whole of Germany knows that when Christian sings, you believe in miracles again. Second place behind Jean-Michel Aweh? No problem. Standing ovations are priceless. His song moment with I Believe I Can Fly still gives you goosebumps today.
