SPANDAU20 was born as a record label among close friends around our two guests from Berlin. FJAAK started making music as teenagers in the aforementioned district, originally as a trio with a charmingly naïve, form follows function follows fun approach. Fast forward more than a decade later: with essential gigs, worldwide sets and album releases on Monkeytown Records, they formed their own imprint SPANDAU20 with close friends and family — including Elli Acula. On a mission to blend old- and new-school sounds flawlessly, they’ve become a notorious community, spanning label nights, releases and even NFTs, but above all: raucous, high-energy dance music.
The two locals Dario & Marco share even closer ties as brothers. Heavily influenced by Hip-Hop, Reggae and Dub in their teens, the elder brother Dario made his first steps in the dance music scene — and Marco followed soon after. Both started out in their own right, with solo releases and sets but it was only a matter of time until the synergy took over. > Techno isn’t just about dark Industrial. What we do is more light and funky, it’s not about heaviness, < said Dario about their sound in 2014, and it still rings true today. 
These days the pair look back on 18 years of the prestigious Ilian Tape imprint, multiple solo and Zenker Brothers albums, countless gigs and endless grooves — all built step by step, slowly and steadily, from their home base in Munich.
