Katniss Everdeen has earned the wrath of President Snow after the events of the first part. In order to eliminate her once and for all, she and Peeta Mellark are forced to compete against each other once again at the 75th Hunger Games, also known as the Quarter Quell, where they have to fight for their lives against other former winners of the Hunger Games. Katniss knows that this time not only her life, but also the safety of her family is at stake, because President Snow will not tolerate another embarrassment. Outside the arena, Katniss's rebellion against the bloody rules of this tournament has also had an effect. More and more people refuse the orders of the totalitarian government and see in Katniss the symbol of their common resistance. The seeds of revolution have been sown and Katniss' Mocking Jay is their common identifying mark.
