Desire Paths // On traces of longing and (re)making space

Desire paths are routes we create ourselves, beyond the planned. They are quiet traces of movement shaped by habit, need, and longing. What may appear as casual traces of everyday movement at first ultimately reveals how space is continuously negotiated, reshaped, and claimed. 
The group exhibition Desire Paths // On traces of longing and (re)making space, presented by Kleine Humboldt Galerie, invites visitors to follow these traces.

Bringing together five artistic positions and a participatory program, the exhibition explores alternative ways of thinking and living. Across interdisciplinary formats – from installation and painting to photography, audiovisual art, and performance – the works engage with questions of community, digital realities, memory, identity, and visibility.

A major highlight is the finissage as part of the Project Space Festival: the exhibition space will be transformed into an experimental field. Artist Itchi Fleischer (they/them) presents a performance in which the body becomes both object and carrier of violence and the dehumanization of the feminine. The performance unfolds as a situated event – a desire path that fully materializes both spatially and symbolically over the course of the festival day.

Auch als Trampelpfade bekannt, erscheinen Desire Paths zunächst als beiläufige Spuren alltäglicher Bewegung. Doch sie machen sichtbar, wie Raum durch Nutzung, Ausschluss und Aneignung geformt wird. 
Die Gruppenausstellung Desire Paths // On traces of longing and (re)making space der Kleinen Humboldt Galerie lädt dazu ein, diesen Spuren zu folgen. 

Gemeinsam mit fünf künstlerischen Positionen und einem Vermittlungsprogramm aus partizipativen Formaten nähert sie sich alternativen Denk- und Lebensweisen und setzt neue Orientierungspunkte. In interdisziplinären Formaten – von Installationen über Malerei, Fotografie, audiovisuelle Kunst bis hin zu Performance – verhandeln die Arbeiten Fragen von Gemeinschaft, digitalen Lebensrealitäten sowie Erinnerung, Identität und Sichtbarkeit.  

Ein besonderes Highlight ist die Finissage im Rahmen des Project Space Festivals: Der Ausstellungsraum wird hier selbst zur Experimentierfläche. Itchi Fleischer (they/them) gestaltet an diesem Tag eine Performance, in der der eigene Körper zugleich Objekt und Träger von Gewalt sowie Entmenschlichung des Weiblichen wird. Die Performance entfaltet sich als situiertes Ereignis – als Desire Path, der sich im Verlauf des Festivaltages sowohl räumlich als auch symbolisch vollständig manifestiert. 

Neue Wege entstehen, wenn wir sie gemeinsam gehen.
