EMMA

Das sagt der/die Veranstalter:in:
HUbbub, the theater group of the Institute of English and American Studies at the HU Berlin, presents: Jane Austen's EMMA, as adapted by Martin Millar and Doon MacKichan for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Emma Woodhouse, young, handsome, clever, and rich, enjoys all the advantages of life, and has a good opinion of herself and her own judgement. Yet after her attempts at making a match for her pretty but socially inferior friend Harriet go horribly wrong, and she becomes involved – without her knowledge – in the secret life of the dashing Frank Churchill and the beautiful and reserved Jane Fairfax, she is forced to question her judgement of others, and her knowledge of herself. But will she understand herself in time to prevent the man she really loves from marrying someone else?

Join HUBbub for this funny, modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic, where Austen’s nieces and nephews steal her manuscript and, with their aunt’s encouragement, act out the story with teenage commentary.
