Get ready for a night of stand-up comedy as bold, smooth, and addictive as your favorite espresso ☕

Espresso Arabica & Friends - Stand up Comedy Show in English

Espresso Arabica & Friends is a comedy night brewing together sharp jokes, chaotic stories, and freshly roasted perspectives from Berlin’s international comedy scene.

The show brings together a lineup of 4 experienced comedians from Berlin’s international comedy scene, featuring either Tommy Ferrari or Aladdin Alghafri as the headliner of the night.

LINE UP:

Palma Palacios:

Classy, sassy, mostly just gassy. Palma is the loud high-energy latina your funny bone was missing. Master of deadpan, Palma’s storytelling combines thought provoking dark humor with everyday basic banter. She performs comedy in English and Spanish and in both languages tries to find the difference between having something to say and having to say something…funny.

Tom Strissel:

Tom Strissel is an American standup comedian and actor living in Berlin. He is known for being funny sometimes. He was a semi-finalist in the 2024 Berlin New Standup Award, as well as the runner-up in the Worldvision All-Winners edition representing his not home country of Japan. Both of these accolades make it seem like Tom is just “okay”, and for the most part, that’s true. Frankly it probably wasn’t worth mentioning them, but for the sake of a bio, it’s good to include these sorts of things. You know recently, I found myself talking about the best chicken wing spot this side of the Rhine, and I gotta say, Wingz in Prague is fire. Definitely check it out if you’re in town.

Andrej Ivanov:

Andrej is the winner of the Berlin New Standup Award 2024, the most famous Macedonian comedian in the world (and the only one) and the captain of the high math team of his country. He shares his perspective of coming from a small country no one has heard of, being a nerdy math kid, riding the ubahn and dating with golden retriever energy.

Maya Upchurch:

Maya Upchurch is ranty, angry, morally-corrupt. Inspired by the likes of Bill Hicks, Bill Burr and Joan Rivers, she's a high-energy force of Gen-Z nature who lacks the ability to speak of anything other than exactly what's on her mind. Based out of Berlin, she's got a truckload of tales from the European capital of hedonism and her Polish/American background means she really knows how to take a shot. Haha get it? Hah. lol. Anyway..

While Maya most certainly will make fun of everyone and everything on her path, her favorite person to roast is undoubtedly herself. Bringing light to her time-wasting habits, irrational anxieties, and dependence on technology, she believes that "punching-up" is best done when it’s an upper-cut to yourself.

Maya started doing standup in 2020, shortly after her first set there was lockdown because China was scared of her power. Since then she's done shows all around Europe, was a featured in The New York Times, performed with Don't Tell Comedy, opened for the likes of Todd Barry, Dragos G, Victor Patrascan and did all sorts of other really cool and exciting stuff that should definitely make you want to book a ticket if the incredible shot joke earlier on didn't already convince you.

About Organizers:

Tommy Ferrari is an Italian stand-up comedian based in Berlin. He performed across several European countries in the last two years and, for the past year, has co-produced and co-hosted a weekly open mic with the collective Halunke Comedy Salon.

His comedy is a silly mix of observations and hilarious stories about life in Germany, blended with his Italian heritage. With his playful style and an extra sprinkle of Parmesan, his humour is as comforting as a bowl of pasta al ragù with a glass of vino della casa.

Aladdin Alghafri (yes, like the Disney one) is a Berlin-based comedian from Damascus.

Since escaping syrian dictatorship to be an engineer at Deutsche Bahn wasn't funny enough - he turned to stand-up. While being a regular on Berlin’s comedy stages, he co-founded Halunke Comedy Salon, where he co-runs his weekly shows. He also recently won the Grandslam Comedy Contest in Hamburg.

With an innocent face and a disarming smile, Aladdin dives into the absurd truths behind Arab and German stereotypes — sharp, dark, and weirdly relatable for both locals and Ausländer.
