Wim Wenders brilliant examination of the myth of America: a man who was thought to be dead meets his son for the first time and sets off with him in search of his wife.

A half-drowned man is found in the Texan desert who appears to have lost his speech and memory. Walt identifies him as his brother Travis, who disappeared years ago and whose son Hunter lives with him. After some time, Travis begins to speak again and gains the trust of his son, with whom he sets off in search of his wife Jane. He finds her in a peep show.

Out of nowhere, in the scorching desert heat between the USA and Mexico, a gaunt man wearing a dark suit and a red baseball cap appears. Travis. He drinks the last sip from his water bottle, then marches unperturbed on into the wasteland that the locals call "The Devil's Playground". Travis may not be able to speak a word and has largely lost his memory, but he is driven by the desire to find his family again.

PARIS, TEXAS is considered Wenders' best-known and most successful film worldwide. Critically acclaimed, it won a number of important international awards. The visually stunning 1984 Cannes winner, beautifully shot by Dutch cinematographer Robby Müller, is a story of self-discovery, loss, redemption and the unbreakable bonds of love. Outstanding acting performances by Harry Dean Stanton and Nastassja Kinski, a masterful screenplay by Sam Shepard and the haunting soundtrack by Ry Cooder have all contributed to PARIS, TEXAS still being considered a cult film 40 years later. The 4K restoration does its part to make it shine in new splendor.
