We are very proud to welcome Oslo’s own Flammer Dance Band, a heavy Afro-psychedelic outfit from the far north, to the planet rock family. They absolutely blew us away with their expert job backing Ghana’s enigmatic “Funky” Rob on his tour beginning of 2023.Flammer is being run by a bunch of veteran breakdancers who, years ago, had been perfecting their moves by rocking and popping to the Afro-funk of Rob, Ebo Taylor and Fela Kuti.
The energetic 7-piece is all about vintage synths, spaced-out effects, hip-shaking grooves, and headbanging breaks! Tight ass rhythm, and quality musicianship, with the freedom, spontaneity, and energy of a jam band. While they are already household names inside their home country, attracting hundreds of listeners (and viewers, as their shows are spectacles), we now want to spread the gospel of Flammer all across Europe by bringing them on their first proper tour of Europe early in 2025.Flammer have first been recognizing by the international music loving audience when releasing their first 7-inch "Mer / Holder Rytme" in 2020 on their own Lyskestrekk imprint, immediately establishing them as a weird and wonderful act to watch out for.
In fall 2024, they will release their new album "Gynger", again on their own label, a mostly instrumental masterpiece of interlocking, funky guitars, wild percussion, and occasional mumbled vocals:https://flammerdanceband.bandcamp.com/album/gynger-2But, like with all great bands, it is still best to catch this volcano of a collective live in concert.
