Freshlyground are finally back. The band that once became the sound of a new South Africa – with hits like „Doo Be Doo“, an MTV Award, and their historic collaboration on „Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)“ – returns with a completely renewed energy and a powerful new voice at the front.

Freshlyground were never just a pop band. They became a symbol for a country trying to rebuild itself after Apartheid – a Rainbow Nation searching for a new sound and a new sense of togetherness.

Their music brought people together across generations, backgrounds, skin colour and belief.

Now the story continues with Mbali Makhoba, an outstanding young singer who steps up as the new lead voice of Freshlyground. At just 20 years old she brings a fresh, soulful presence that can speak to different generations at once – honoring the band’s history while opening a new chapter.

And they come with their new album „Take Me Home“, produced by multi Grammy Award winner JB Arthur. The first three singles -„Jabula“, „Welele“ and „Take Me Home“ were released between November 2025 and February 2026.
