Would you like to send a clear message about the importance of incorporating exercise and training into cancer treatment by taking part in our fun run? Exercise and training still receive too little attention in standard care for cancer patients, even though their effectiveness has been clearly proven by scientific research. Unfortunately, many patients suffer as a result of this gap in care, experiencing more severe side effects, poorer tolerance of treatment and reduced physical performance. OAC and DiCE are sending a clear message with the Fun Run 2026:

Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE) and Outdoor Against Cancer (OAC) are thrilled to announce a collaborative Fun Run/Walk Event to be held on Friday, 3 July 2026 in Riemer Park. Digestive cancers remain among the leading causes of cancer deaths in Europe. Yet prevention, healthy lifestyles, and survivorship support can make a profound difference. This 3K Walk and 5K Run will bring together clinicians, patients, advocates, and the public—highlighting the important role of physical activity in cancer prevention, recovery, and overall wellbeing.

“We are excited to be organising an active, feel-good awareness event. If you are attending ESMO GI 2026, or if you live in Munich, come run or walk with us on 3 July in the English Garden!” Zorana Maravic, CEO of DiCE

The first Fun Run on 3 July 2025 is something very special to me. It’s not just an awareness event, it’s the beginning of a shared journey. Starting in 2026, we’ll prepare participants step by step so they can experience what structured exercise and good preparation really mean. Training strengthens not only the body but also confidence, endurance and that special feeling of energy and freedom that comes with movement. The Fun Run will be a celebration of the power of movement and exercise in cancer prevention, in recovery and in life itself. We’re excited to build a strong community around it and curious to see where this shared path will take us.” Petra Thaller, Founder & President of OAC
