From 7 October 2022 to 8 January 2023, the NS-Documentation Centre of the City of Cologne will show the exhibition "Haut, Stein" ("Skin, Stone") with photographs by the artist Jakob Ganslmeier, which was developed together with the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation and EXIT-Deutschland.
The artistic project focuses on the use of Nazi symbols to this day. It questions the persistence, use and obliteration of relevant signs from two perspectives: In the form of architecture and architectural ornaments, the symbolism of National Socialism is perpetuated in public space. As tattoos, these signs serve as individual avowals of right-wing extremism. The overall project places the individual stories in a socio-political context - and poses the question to all of us: How past is the German past?
During the guided tour, the artist Jakob Ganslmeier will give insights into his work.
