Guy-El Invites – The Circle That Connects

Guy-El Invites is a monthly format that brings together art, community, and the Kimuntu philosophy in a circle without a stage. Every last Saturday of the month at 8 p.m., Guy-El invites an artist to join a collective improvisation and open musical dialogue that welcomes all forms of participation.

In May, Guy-El welcomes Sam Hylton into the circle.

Born in Spokane, Washington and now based in Munich, pianist and composer Sam Hylton moves fluidly between jazz, improvisation, and composition. His musical path has taken him from studies in the United States to an active presence in Europe’s contemporary jazz scene, where he performs, teaches, and collaborates across a wide range of projects.

Hylton’s work spans intimate solo settings, ensemble writing, and film music, reflecting a deep curiosity for sound and structure. As both a performer and composer, he brings a refined sensitivity and openness to dialogue, shaped by years of international experience and collaborations with renowned musicians.

Within the circle of Guy-El Invites, Sam Hylton brings his attentive listening, nuanced touch, and exploratory spirit into an open musical exchange. Together with Guy-El, he will create an evening that is not about performance, but about presence – a shared space for listening, responding, and shaping sound in the moment.

Guy-El Invites – Ein Kreis, der verbindet

Mit Guy-El Invites entsteht ein monatliches Format, das Kunst, Gemeinschaft und die Kimuntu-Philosophie miteinander verbindet. Im Mittelpunkt steht der Kreis: ein Raum ohne Bühne, ohne Trennung zwischen Musiker*innen und Publikum. Alle stehen auf derselben Ebene und sind Teil desselben lebendigen Moments.

An jedem letzten Samstag im Monat um 20 Uhr lädt Guy-El einen Künstlerin ein, gemeinsam zu improvisieren, Klänge zu teilen und einen offenen musikalischen Dialog entstehen zu lassen. Ob man mitsingt, mitspielt, lauscht oder einfach nur die gemeinsame Schwingung spürt – jede Form der Teilnahme ist willkommen.
Es geht nicht um Performance, sondern um Präsenz: ums Zuhören, Spüren, Austausch und ein neues Miteinander.

Für die Ausgabe im Mai hat Guy-El den Pianisten und Komponisten Sam Hylton eingeladen. In den USA geboren und seit vielen Jahren in München verwurzelt, bewegt sich Hylton zwischen Jazz, Improvisation und Komposition. Seine Arbeit reicht von internationalen Konzertbühnen über Kollaborationen mit renommierten Musiker*innen bis hin zu Film- und Ensembleprojekten. Mit seiner offenen, suchenden Klangsprache bringt er vielfältige Einflüsse in den gemeinsamen Kreis ein und lädt dazu ein, musikalische Begegnung im Moment entstehen zu lassen.
