Nominated for 8 Oscars, including ´Best Picture´ and ´Best Actress Jessie Buckley´

In 1580, William Shakespeare, who works as a Latin teacher in the small English village of Stratford-upon-Avon, falls in love with Agnes. Rumors circulate in the village that she is not a healer, but a witch. However, this does not bother William. The two start a new life together and quickly have three children: first Susanna is born, followed by the twins Judith and Hamnet. But for William, dreaming does not stop with the family. He wants to leave teaching behind and work as a playwright, which is difficult in the countryside. At Agnes´s urging, he moves to London. Initially, the family is only separated by distance, but then the plague breaks out and kills the eleven-year-old Hamnet. This motivates William to write a play in honor of his son. The story is based on the novel of the same name by Maggie O´Farrell.
