Ali (Adam Bessa) leads a precarious life selling contraband gas on the streets. When his father dies, he is forced to look after his two younger sisters. Struggling to make ends meet while living in a house from which the three siblings will soon be evicted, Ali seeks to find a steadier job and more stability. However, in a society fraught with corruption, only illicit opportunities present themselves, and Ali is forced to take a radical decision. Lotfy Nathan’s moving feature debut premiered within the Un Certain Regard section of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, after which Adam Bessa has won the Best Performance Award for his role as Ali.
