Instant Screen Printing Workshop: Print Your Own Image

Always wanted to create and print your own designs? 

This workshop introduces Instant Screen Printing — a DIY technique with which a “screen” with your own image is printed in seconds. Bypassing the tedious and time-consuming preparation of a traditional screen using photo-sensitive emulsion and lots of water, it preserves the creative part of the work.

No prior knowledge or skills needed. 

What to expect? 

• Introduction to the technique of Instant Screen Printing 
• Preparing your image, either digitally or by drawing on paper
• Printing a screen with an Instant screen printer (up to A4 size) 
• Transferring the image onto textile (up to three pieces)
• Water-based and non-toxic screen printing ink of multiple different colors
• Tips on paints, materials, and technique
• Gratis snacks and drinks
• Presentation of the results
• Gratis extra screen to print at home

All necessary tools, ink, and printing equipment are provided by the organizers.

What to bring? 

• Textile piece. We encourage you to bring something that you will definitely wear or use — T-shirts, tote bags, pillowcases, or anything else (once, we printed a poem on pants 🤫). Important: it should be made of cotton or other natural materials. Only white or light-colored textiles would work with this method. Some blank T-shirts are available on site (for an extra cost). 
• Idea to print. It can be a quote, a one-colored line drawing. We don’t recommend using a photo as it’s much harder to print uniformly using this technique.
• Optional: bring your laptop if you want to prepare an image to print on-site.
