Japanese Television doesn't just play music - it conjures it, sending its sounds straight from a black-lit UFO parked somewhere between 1968 and the heat death of the universe. Founded by cosmic outsider Tim (guitar), the band got their low-end oomph from Elea (bass) for their debut album. A year ago, they expanded their alien frequencies with Riko, who plays organ and taishogoto like he's channeling ghost voices, and drummer Kev, who pounds the skins like they owe him money. Their instrumentals feel like stumbling into a Dario Argento fever dream, where surf guitars collide with Martian sunsets and everything is a little too weird to be random. Cool because they don't give a damn about coolness. Japanese Television thrive on being the band that doesn't follow trends - they vaporize them with laser beams. They've only just released their second album and they're already cooking up its remix sibling, because why not? In 2024, they will be touring Western Europe in March and Eastern Europe in May, transforming each location into a retro-futuristic soundscape that smells faintly of ozone and vinyl.
