joe gloomy ist das Soloprojekt des Oldenburger Musikers Joel Glanert. Während er in den letzten Jahren mit den Bands PILEA (Indie Pop) und Loose Lips (Alternative Rock) stetig Musik geschrieben und veröffentlicht hat, haben sich nebenbei immer mehr Songs angesammelt, die in keins der Projekte gepasst haben. Dadurch entstand das Alter Ego joe gloomy, bei welchem Joel mehr Wert auf Persönlichkeit und die eigene Handschrift als auf klassische Genregrenzen legt. Durch eine schwere Zeit im letzten Jahr, in der er seine anderen Bandprojekte pausieren musste, konnte er in seinem eigenen Tempo acht Songs fertigstellen die parallel zum Schaffensprozess ein Gefühlsgewusel zwischen Liebe, Zwangsgedanken, Ängsten und Hoffnung abbilden. Dabei übernimmt Joel alles vom Songwriting über Gesang und Instrumente bis hin zur Produktion selbst. Mit „Mashed Potatoes“ erscheint als erste Single ein tanzbarer, verträumter Indie Lovesong über das überwältigende Gefühl des Hals-über-Kopf verliebt seins.

joe gloomy is the solo project of musician Joel Glanert from Oldenburg, Germany. While writing and releasing music with the bands PILEA (indie pop) and Loose Lips (alternative rock), he has quickly accumulated more and more songs that didn't fit into either of those projects. This led to the creation of the alter ego joe gloomy, where Joel places more emphasis on his own identity and style rather than on classic genre boundaries. Having gone through a difficult time over the past year which placed his other music projects on hold, he found solace in his own music and was able to slowly put together eight songs. In parallel to his life, the songs depict a turmoil of emotions between love, obsessive thoughts, anxiety, and hope. Joel is responsible for the entire creative process from songwriting to vocals, instruments, and the production itself. The first single, “Mashed Potatoes,” is a danceable, dreamy indie rock song about the overwhelming feeling of being head over heels in love.
