Larry Goldings and Jake Sherman with Special Guest Hans Groiner

Larry Goldings und Jake Sherman decken ein breites musikalisches Terrain ab und sind dabei äußerst unterhaltsam. Beide Künstler sind renommierte Jazz-Pianisten und Organisten, eine typische Goldings/Sherman-Show aber geht weit darüber hinaus! Es werden nicht nur Jakes wunderschön gestaltete Songs und sein chromatisches Mundharmonikaspiel zu hören sein, auch Gitarren-Synth-Duelle und (für viele sicherlich ein Highlight!) einen Besuch von Larrys Alter Ego Hans Groiner beinhalten. Mit einer Mischung aus eigenem Repertoire und einzigartigen Interpretationen von Stücken von Duke Ellington bis Randy Newman liefern Larry und Jake einen Abend voller Musik, der schwer zu kategorisieren, aber leicht zu genießen ist.

Larry Goldings is a Grammy-nominated pianist and composer. His organ trio with Peter Bernstein and Bill Stewart has been recognized as "among our presiding paragons of the modern Hammond B-3 organ trio tradition” (Nate Chinen, New York Times). Goldings’ musical inspirations draw from a lifetime of absorbing jazz, pop, funk, R&B, electronic and classical music. As a performer and recording artist, he is known for long-term collaborations that straddle the realms of jazz and pop with such artists as Jim Hall, Maceo Parker, John Scofield, Steve Gadd, Jack DeJohnette, Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, James Taylor, John Mayer, and others.  As a composer for film and television, Goldings scored his first feature film, Dealin' With Idiots in 2013, directed by Jeff Garlin, and wrote the score for the 2020 Netflix limited series, Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam CJ Walker, starring Octavia Spencer.  Most recently Larry has been funking it up with “Scary Goldings”, a collaboration with the Youtube sensation, “Scary Pockets” featuring John Scofield and bassist Mononeon.

Born in Boston, Jake Sherman learned classical piano by listening to his father play Bach every morning. If not for an intervention - stumbling upon the catalog of Weird Al Yankovic at 11 years old - he would have followed in his father’s path or perhaps become a jazz purist.  But Weird Al changed everything.   Jake started a parody band and sang his newly-written lyrics to classics like “All Star” by Smashmouth and “Men in Black” by Will Smith, along with composing new family classics such as “Amy, You’re Turning 49” and “Charles, Charles Sherman.” Fast forward some years beyond his time studying at Berklee College of Music and it’s clear Jake has found a way to combine his appreciation of great songwriting with his piano/organ-playing prowess.   He has become a go-to musician on recordings, appearing with Rosalia, Chance the Rapper, Meshell Ndegeocello, Emily King,  Bilal, Andrew Bird, Nick Hakim, and most notably LARRY GOLDINGS. Jake has released four studio albums under his own name on which he sings and plays all the instruments.  His latest project is a piano and vocal album of jazz standards which will either be released soon or is already a major success, depending on when you are reading this.
