LES OMBRES QUI CHANTENT
Eine Tanzperformance von Wendinmi Jérôme Kabore

„You can’t achieve fundamental change without a certain amount of madness. In this case it comes from non-conformism, from the courage to turn your back on old formulas, from the courage to invent the future“, said Thomas Sankara.

In recent decades, prominent men have raised their voices against all forms of oppression and discrimination. They have fought for the recognition of their people’s history, culture and rights. „Les ombres qui chantent“ is a tribute to Thomas Sankara, Aimé Césaire, Cheikh Anta Diop, Léopold Sédar Senghor, Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela, Patrice Lumumba, Malcolm X and many others; their sacrificial struggles are honoured and remembered, not least in order to move forward together.

But how much does their legacy inform current debates? How do we look at the work of these men and the messages and values they conveyed? And what can women and men bring to the ongoing struggle for recognition?
