Formed in Collingwood, Ontario in 2019, Moondoggy is a Canadian indie rock band now based in Toronto. Beginning with house parties and home recordings, the band relocated to Toronto in 2020 and spent the following years refining both their sound and live performances. The group consists of brothers Jakob Matanowitsch (vocals) and Ben Matanowitsch (saxophone, acoustic guitar), joined by Jonny Contini (lead guitar) and Victor Carrillo (drums).

Moondoggy released their debut studio album, Mad and Noisy, on November 17, 2023. Recorded at Dreamhouse Studios in Toronto with producer and engineer Calvin Hartwick, the album captures a raw, guitar-driven sound shaped by life between Canada’s major cities and smaller rural communities. The band is currently working on their second album, Field Notes, recorded at Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, with a planned release in fall 2024.

With sold-out shows at established Toronto venues, large DIY concerts in their hometown, and university performances in Montreal, Moondoggy has built a reputation for energetic and engaging live shows. Since releasing Mad and Noisy, the band has steadily expanded their international online reach, gaining over 15,000 new monthly listeners on Spotify and earning placements on multiple Spotify editorial playlists.
